These Torque Thrust wheels, on the Project Colony Ship wagon? They are 14x7 wheels, which is similar to the stock size for the wagon. Better shot of type of wheel with center cap on
below too.

Torque Thrust wheels are still my favorite of all time. Haters can suck it, I vote YES!

Torq Thrusts are always a solid choice. Cragar SSs would give it a period look as would slotted mags.

Silver. Definitely silver. The black wheels trend needs to die already.

No torque thrusts. They are played out and not all that interesting. Also, I would g et something in at least a 15" so you have more than two choices for tires. I would go so far as to put 17's on it. Make up the size difference with less sidewall and your speedo will still be accurate.

No black. You lose all the detail of the wheel. If you are going to go with black wheels, you might as well just get steelies, which would be my vote.

^this is 100% the right take. Torq thrusts and Cragar SS’s are beyond played out at this point, and wheels smaller than 15” are pointless.

Nope. I would go with chrome 12 slots.

The whole goal with this project is super low-budget. And the wheel & tire set (with supposedly new tires) is $250, which is less than replacing the (now dry-rotting) used tires on the front. T hus being willing to go with 14s.
Unfortunately t h e only cheap 17s on craigslist are for newer cars with a backspacing that doesn’t work . I know, because that is what it had when I bought it.
Rear rubbed in any turn. Front had a an inch of spacers and still didn’t fit right and they had to leave the bearing dust cap off for them to fit

Do it. Torque Thrusts are a stereotype, but there’s a reason for that: they work well on Americana of this era . And yes, 14s a re a problem for tire availability , but if you can get these wheel s with rubber for less than just moderns sized tires, what’s to lose? If you can’t find new tires when these ones wear out, look to upgrade the wheels again then.

I hear you. If it's cheap and they work and that's the goal, then it seems like a good choice. Just make sure you check date code on the tires. Good luck! I love those old wagons.

I second slotted mags, but I’m also a sucker for being period correct.

I had to do the ‘98+ “big brake swap” in front and a 1.25" spacer in the rear on my box Vic to fit the Bullit wheels.

Oh hell yes, please do it! Forget “played out” as it’s so “played out” on typical muscle cars that it’s cool to see it on other vehicles, especially your wagon!
Note: I bought a set of 15x7 in black for pop’s Ranger with zero regrets.

Black is okay if the barrel is still silver/machined. Personally, I would’ve gone with dark grey instead of black but black was on a discount compared to all other colors so...easy choice, lol.

It’s better, but it still erases the details and contours of the wheel.

Thanks for the reminder on the date code, it helped me remember to check that first. Turns out his “new” tires we manufactured in 2001.

Oof. Glad you checked. That would have been painful to notice later.
